D.K. Shin . L.Ac., Ph.D
Dr. Dong K Shin comes from a long line of oriental medicine doctors in his family. His grandfather was a renowned practitioner in acupuncture and herbs in Korea. Dr Shin’s training in acupuncture and herbal therapy medicine started from his grandfather when he was seven years old. The rigorous training and internship under his grandfather and further intensive practice in his father’s clinic made him very knowledgeable in both of acupuncture and herbs for optimum treatment.
In the United States he studied at the Royal University of Oriental Medicine and received his M.S. at Samra University of Oriental Medicine and his Ph.D. at Yuin University, School of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine in Los Angeles.
In all of the three acupuncture institutions he himself studied he also taught students in Master’s program and Ph. D programs over many years. In addition, Dr. Shin studied at the Beijing College of Acupuncture and Orthopedics as a visiting scholar. He attended the World Federal Association of Acupuncture and Moxibustion as regional representative of Los Angeles. He has attended continuing education programs of his special interest in such areas of pain control acute and chronic, obesity, skin, rhinitis, insomnia, and women’s health and beauty.
Dr. Shin started to practice acupuncture and herbal therapy in Los Angeles, California in the United States in 1991. From 1993 to present he has been giving services in his own clinic located in Glendale. His principle form of natural healing treatment is based on “Harmony Healing Treatment” which aims to balance disharmony in Chi through acupuncture and herbal therapy.
Kyo Kay Chang D.C., L.Ac
Dr. Kyo Kay Chang received her Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Cleveland Chiropractic College in Los Angeles with Cum Laude Honors. Besides her excellent academic record, she served as historian in the Delta Alpha Society and was recognized for her leadership in the International Chiropractic Club.
Because of Dr. Chang’s passion to heal people, she organized the Insight Meditation Club at her college to help her fellow chiropractic classmates reduce stress in order to become better health care providers.
Dr. Chang has also attended extra continuing education programs in such areas as Applied Kinesiology, Neuro Emotional Technique, Applied Nutrition, Namputiped Allergy Elimination Technique, Clinical Nutrition, and Homeopathy, Fundamentals of Optimizing Egg Quality with Five-element Functional endocrinology, Advanced Acupuncture for anxiety, insomnia, depression, sinusitis, thyroid disorder, PTSD treatment, cancer and chemotherapy support treatment.
After becoming a Chiropractor, Dr. Chang’s interest in healing led her to study Oriental Medicine. She is licensed in both acupuncture and chiropractic care. With her broad knowledge in chiropractic care, acupuncture, herbs and emphasis on mind and body healing, patients who seek alternative medicine will surely benefit from Dr. Chang’s multiple expertise.
June Ahn L.Ac., C.M.T.
June Ahn, Licensed Acupuncturist, graduated from Samra University of Oriental Medicine in Los Angeles.
She has been working with Dr. Shin as a licensed acupuncturist and certified meredian therapist. She particularly specializes in healing stagnant symptoms of muscles and nerves due to stress and occupation related disorders. Her own martial arts background in Tae Kwon Do, Aikido, Tai Chi, Chi Kung, Stretching, Dance and Golf along with her knowledge and experience in Oriental Medicine enables her to heal patients with problems in sports more efficiently.
She has also extended her healing touch to facial stress release through facial meridian therapy. There are several meridians running along the face. When those meridians are blocked or stagnated, it can manifest into facial tension, sinusitis, acne, headache or premature facial wrinkles. June is excellent in treating those symptoms with her special sensitivity and skills.
